Neirud died shrouded in mystery, leaving behind no trace of her past. Confronting family secrets, the filmmaker pieces together the enigmatic life of her “aunt,” uncovering her colourful journey as a pioneering black lesbian wrestler in an all-female circus troupe during the 60s and 80s. As she investigates Neirud’s controversial ring persona, the film paints a fascinating portrait of race, identity, and queer life in changing Brazilian society.
